DrugFAM Helpline Volunteer and wellbeing writer Anna Ruggiero has produced a series of guides to offer emotional support during challenging times. 

Loving someone harmed by their use of alcohol, drugs, substances or gambling is not only extremely distressing to witness, but can be exhausting and damaging to your  mental health and well being.

The benefit of support groups

If you are supporting a loved one harmed by their use of alcohol, drugs, substances or gambling you may find yourself feeling very isolated and lonely and unable to talk about how you feel to friends or family.

Many of the people we support are struggling to find a balance between giving support and having independence in their personal relationships.
